Creative Pathways volunteering placements

Creative Pathways have engaged with over 100 volunteers, Young Reviewers, Work in Culture members and mentees. It has been such a pleasure to support and watch these participants develop their own work and engage with arts, culture and heritage organisations across Herefordshire.
Here are just a few case studies:

Cup Ceramics

Cup Ceramics took on two Creative Pathways volunteers and provided them with incredibly valuable experiences. In exchange for volunteers our members were given access to the ceramic studio, it's equipment, the support of highly skilled and experienced ceramists and access to sell their own work in the Cup shop.

Diversion

Work in Culture member Richard wanted to develop his public speaking and performance skills. He was trained by both Ellie and Emma and took part in the poetry night Diversion as both a poet and presenter. Richard was celebrated for his dry humour and warm delivery.

National Trust

Herefordshire’s National Trust welcomed Creative Pathways and young reviewer Kate to Berrington Hall. There they provided valuable knowledge and experience in marketing and event planning, as well as providing a wonderful private tour of the building and grounds.  Please enjoy Kate’s video, celebrating the beautiful Berrington Hall.

Borderlines Film Festival

As well as welcoming members from our Young reviewers in The Shire project, Borderlines Film Festival also welcomed Creative Pathways volunteers who were passionate about film as venue assistants, box office stewards and audience researchers.

Play in a week

Work in Culture participant Mark Drury signed up to Creative Pathways to learn about careers in arts facilitation, particularly with young people. Mark was trained by Ellie Scanlan, an experienced workshop facilitator, and joined her as an assistant for a week long drama project at Ledbury Poetry. Mark is a talented muscian and writer and was excited to bring these skills to the workshop. Mark is now a regular volunteer for the Word Crew youth workshops at Ledbury Poetry.

Feast Festival

Feast Festival welcomed Creative Pathways members to take part as event photographers and production crew.

Open Sky

Open Sky Theatre create visually striking physical theatre, digital theatre and film. During Creative Pathways they took on 15+ young volunteers and gave them hands on filming and production experience, including a trip to shoot in London. The experience was incredibly valued and loved by volunteers.

Hereford Cathedral

Maddison joined Creative Pathways and took up a volunteering placement at Hereford Cathedral in the Chained Library and as part of the Mappa Mundi exhibition. Through her volunteering Maddison gained skills as a historical tour guide. It was a pleasure to see her confidently tell fascinating stories and facts to members of the public.
